Finding new music

I joined Last.fm^ yesterday and started playing some tracks from my favourite bands & artists.

After I grew bored of that, I took a look around the band/artist’s page and noticed that there’s a little “Similar Artists” section, with other bands and artists who sound like the one you’re viewing.

I started clicking around these and listening to the tracks and finding more new-to-me bands. I happily spent about three hours listening to new stuff, favouriting the stuff I really liked and adding stuff to my library.

I don’t watch much TV and don’t even remember the last time I watched the Box or Kerrang, so the only way I usually find new stuff to listen to, is off the radio. And I’m normally forced to suck it up and listen to the crap being played by Plymouth Sound, Radio 1 or Radio 2. :(
So, yeah. It’s not very often that I listen to new stuff and when I do, it’s usually bloody Pop, RnB, Hip Hop or Rap.
I prefer stuff like Linkin Park, Nickelback, Staind, Queen Adreena.

Via Last.fm, I’ve ‘discovered’ new stuff1 I like and want to listen to! Breaking Benjamin, Mudvayne, Skillet, Evans|Blue, Taproot, Three Days Grace, Collide and Seether being the big ‘I LOVE!’s.

Happy. :)

1 – I know that some of these bands, if not all, have been around a while. I’ve just never been able to listen to them before. :P

Mika

I really, really, really hate Mika’s music…his voice just sounds really screechy to me and his songs always get stuck in my head.

I rarely listen to the radio but a few weeks ago, my mum had it on and a song came on. I thought it was a cute, if slightly cheesy, song. The chorus was kinda catchy too…

I thought it might be from the new High School Musical film. It just sounds like something they’d sing (I haven’t seen the film but have heard EVERY SINGLE SONG from the first film, thanks to my brother and sister)…but why does the man’s voice sound screechy?

I searched for the song, using the part of the lyrics I could remember the best (“No hope, no love, no glory. No happy ending.”).

It’s by Mika? Seriously?
