Ouch!

My new friend Sam – Miss Bad Influence – and I went in to the city centre to get ANOTHER piercing.

This is my 27th piercing.

I had my left nipple done.

I thought it was going to be REALLY painful but it really wasn’t very bad. The needle didn’t hurt going in but it hurt coming back out. Having the jewellery inserted was the worst bit. I can’t wait to get the other one done! :)

Day out with Sam

Posted on Saturday, February 26th, 2011 at 9:55pm.

I met a girl called Sam through my workplace in December. She’s my mini-me (who’s taller than me) and although she recently found a new job, we’ve stayed in contact. ‘Cause, seriously, this girl is cool. And apparently, a bad influence on me too.

We arranged to meet up this afternoon and have lunch at a place called “Buffet City”, which is a Chinese restaurant…but an “all you can eat” buffet.
We both managed two small plates before we decided we were full and left.

We started wandering around the city centre, not sure what to do but just chatting while we walked along.
And the subject turned to piercings…and I think you probably have a good idea where this is going…

I wanted to go into my usual piercing place to get a new lip ring and so off we went. As we walked in, Sam’s all “Hmm, I REALLY want a new piercing. Do you know if they have any piercings for £20 or less?”. I didn’t, so we went to the counter. Sam looked down the list and found the piercing she had really wanted for a few months and it was in her price range. I was innocently enquiring about some of the piercings I was kinda interested in getting at some point.

Well, between Sam and the person on the counter, I got talked into getting a piercing I’ve wanted for about…two years?

Long story short: I am now the proud owner of a septum piercing^.

After we got pierced, most of the shops in the city centre had closed, so we decided to go home.

The jewellery I’m wearing in my new piercing is a horseshoe ring and it’s flipped up, so no one can see it. It’s a ninja piercing. :)
I’ll put photos up when the piercing is healed enough for me to be happy pulling the jewellery down.

Something good, quickly followed by something bad

Posted on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011 at 9:46pm.

On Friday, I had to take an exam for my level 2 NVQ in Accounting. I walked in shaking like a leaf.
It was a three hour exam and I completed it in an hour. I passed – woohoo!

On Monday, my bottom front teeth started aching. I thought it was due to me grinding my teeth in my sleep the night before but the aching in one particular tooth just got worse.
I have ANOTHER abscess.

So after the high of passing the exam I seriously thought I would NEVER pass, I was quickly brought down to Earth by this stupid bloody abscess I haven’t been able to get rid of since 2005.

Pain relief isn’t working very well at the moment but I have an emergency dental appointment tomorrow at 1:40pm, so there”s hope that it won’t get much worse.

I’m just SO sick of this recurring abscess.

Happy New Year

Posted on Sunday, January 2nd, 2011 at 1:00am.

I hope everyone had a good New Year’s Eve and weren’t too hungover on New Year’s Day! :)

Now onto the resolutions!
It seems that I didn’t actually make any last year but I’ll go through the ones that are ALWAYS on my list anyway.

DO MORE FOR CHARITY
In 2010, I started giving money to Save The Children every month. I also took part in raising money via work for a local charity called Jeremiah’s Journey (helps children who have lost people who they were close to). ALSO, I took part in a Sponsored Slim for Jeremiah’s Journey.
Oh yeah and – I gave two laptops to a charity based in Kenya through one of Myke’s friends.

LOSE WEIGHT
I actually lost weight this year but I started off the first few months of the year by putting on a stone in weight (14lbs), due to some problems I was having in my personal life. However, through the Sponsored Slim I did with some of my colleagues, I lost 18lbs. I then lost a further 7lbs, bringing my total weight-loss of the year to 25lbs.

SPEND LESS, SAVE MORE
I sucked at this. Seriously; by the end of January, I had purchased a new mobile phone, Nintendo DS and Netbook (like a laptop but smaller). And I started going out for meals and “nights out” etc with work more so…I spent WAY more than I would have liked. And I purchased my beloved kitten, Chester.
And I didn’t save. I feel the shame.
On the plus side, however – I’ve stopped purchasing books and instead borrow them from friends, book clubs or libraries and they USED to be one of my biggest expenditures (I can walk into a book shop after spending £100+ EASILY).

MAKE MORE OF AN EFFORT WITH FRIENDS
This one is a bit 50/50; I haven’t SEEN much of my non-work friends but I HAVE gotten back in touch with a lot of people I knew in school or college and have spoken to many of them quite a few times. For someone who prefers to only have a couple of close friends and dislikes having to interact with people she doesn’t know, this was a big step.

EXERCISE MORE
I suck. I sucked at the beginning of the year, I did okay in the middle of the year (I went out for a few walks and jogs and bought a mini trainer which I still use) and then I sucked again.

My resolutions for 2011 are:-

  • lose weight
  • spend less, save more
  • quit smoking and drinking alcohol
  • pass both the theory and practical parts of driving tests
  • be more active on my blog

Hopefully, this year will be full of “I DID IT!”. :)

Every single year

Posted on Thursday, December 16th, 2010 at 8:19pm.

Every single year I tell myself that I WON’T spend too much money on Christmas presents. Before I start my Christmas shopping, I even make budgets for everyone on my Christmas present list.

And every single year – without fail – I spend WAY more than I can really afford.

My top New Year’s Resolution will be to make budgets for every month AND stick to them. And to save money back towards Christmas.
