Finding new music

This entry was posted 3 years, 6 months ago.

I joined Last.fm^ yesterday and started playing some tracks from my favourite bands & artists.

After I grew bored of that, I took a look around the band/artist’s page and noticed that there’s a little “Similar Artists” section, with other bands and artists who sound like the one you’re viewing.

I started clicking around these and listening to the tracks and finding more new-to-me bands. I happily spent about three hours listening to new stuff, favouriting the stuff I really liked and adding stuff to my library.

I don’t watch much TV and don’t even remember the last time I watched the Box or Kerrang, so the only way I usually find new stuff to listen to, is off the radio. And I’m normally forced to suck it up and listen to the crap being played by Plymouth Sound, Radio 1 or Radio 2. :(
So, yeah. It’s not very often that I listen to new stuff and when I do, it’s usually bloody Pop, RnB, Hip Hop or Rap.
I prefer stuff like Linkin Park, Nickelback, Staind, Queen Adreena.

Via Last.fm, I’ve ‘discovered’ new stuff1 I like and want to listen to! Breaking Benjamin, Mudvayne, Skillet, Evans|Blue, Taproot, Three Days Grace, Collide and Seether being the big ‘I LOVE!’s.

Happy. :)

1 – I know that some of these bands, if not all, have been around a while. I’ve just never been able to listen to them before. :P
