I’ve had problems with my internet connection since we first got our broadband installed.

When it got installed, the software hadn’t been installed onto the computer, so the computer couldn’t communicate with the modem, which meant we had six weeks of no internet access. We finally found out what the problem is when we called customer support. We also still had to pay for our internetless six weeks.

I get disconnected on a regular basis. On good days, I’ll get disconnected once or twice a day. On bad days, I’ll get a whole five minutes of internet access before being disconnected again.

On top of that, I had our speed tested…300kb/s. We were paying for what I thought was supposed to be a 2mb/s connection (it’s actually a 4mb/s connection). 2mb/s = 2000kb/s.

The connection died a couple of days ago and I was fuming. Crappy connection speed, damn thing wasn’t installed properly, “customer support” is actually some poor Indian person who can’t understand me any better than I can understand them, I get disconnected on a regular basis…
People try and say “it’s only the internet” or something similar but I’m paying for a service I’m basically not getting – why shouldn’t I be peeved over that?

Mum phoned up the ISP on Tuesday and they said they’d send a technician out to fix it today, sometime between 8am and midday.

The techie came around and said that the cables hadn’t been attached to the modem using the right connector or something…so the two people who came around to install our connection didn’t do a very good job, to say the least. 8-)
He gave us a new modem and installed everything properly.

So, I now have a 4mb/s connection which won’t die randomly on me. :hehe: Li is happy!

I realised a little while ago that I took down all of my MySpace Layouts and other MySpace stuff. I’ll have most of it back up by this time tomorrow, so no worries. :)
